Greetings Sgt. I’m an Illinoisan myself. I’m from Decatur, about an hour and a half from Shipman.I was in the Army, served in an artillery battery. M110 self propelled. Did my time at Ft. Sill. We both have first names for last names even. A drill Sgt. Told me “ it’s a G D shame your family was too poor to afford a last name !!” Some similarities between us, however I was only 6 years old when you gave all. I served only in peace . You served when the stakes were high - not I. I sacrificed only time. You sacrificed all that you possibly could. A genuine shame . You were apparently a great guy from the things people posted about you. I’m sorry that war robs us of the finest men & women that this country has to offer, but grateful to those who step up so others won’t have to. May your soul rest eternally where war doesn’t exist. You & those like you ( myself NOT included ) deserve nothing less. Maybe we’ll swap Land of Lincoln stories after my earthly tour reaches its ETS date. Been a pleasure just to honor you Sarge. TM

honoring you...
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Some Gave All !
Red , I grew up with you in Shipman . Oh , we weren't close buddies , but we knew each other well . Knew your whole family . They were crushed when they got the word of your loss of life . The whole town was shaken .I was in country when my Mom wrote me about you being killed . Last year the state named a section of Rte 16 in your memory . Shipman has not forgot you , nor have I . Thank You
Dear Sgt Glenard Gregory,
Thank you for your service as a Field Artillery Basic. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
