The Christmas Visit
On each Christmas Day I make a special visit to the Hmong Memorial on the shores of Lake Michigan in my hometown of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I know where Curt’s name is located on the north wall of the circular monument. The memorial lists all the names of those Americans who were POWs or listed as MIAs in Laos. On this day the air was clear and cold. As I approached Curt’s name I removed my glove and ran my fingers once again across the white letters of his name engrained in the black marble. I step back and rendered my best salute. I have to admit I must have looked a pitiful site, with my winter wool cap and worn gloves but it was the only gift I could give Curt on this Christmas Day.
The reason I come each Christmas is for his family, his friends and his comrades. There is no gravesite for Curt for he was never found. To this day he is missing in action. So, this is as close as I can get to him, here at this memorial. Curt, you are remembered everyday by your family and for me I ensure to remember you on this special day. You are never forgotten, Merry Christmas Sergeant Green.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT George Curtis Green Jr, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Thank You
Your sister was my middle school teacher. She spoke of you fondly, and conveyed great respect for what you and others like you did for our country. Her story has touched me, and given me great admiration for the sacrifices that you and your comrades have made.
