Thank You

Dear HM2 Larry Goss,
Thank you for your service as a Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class with the 3rd Marine Division. Semper Fi. Thank you for the lives you saved. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

My dad’s birthday

Dear Dennis,

Thank you for leaving a remembrance on my dad’s Wall of Faces page. It was especially meaningful today on what would have been his 72nd birthday. I would love to know if you served with my dad. Please contact me if you are willing at [email protected] or 765-669-2689.

Thank you,

I love you Dad!

I'm vacationing this week in CA and thinking of you every time I look at the ocean or hike in the mountains. You got to see this beautiful part of the country when you were here for training. It was the first and only time you got to travel out west. I believe we would have done so many more times, had you of made it home.

Your first great grandchild is now the age that I was when you were killed. She started saying "dada" this week. She is amazing!! You would love her so much!

Thank you dad for giving me life. I have made the most of every day, knowing how much you would have loved to have continued living. Every sunset, every laughter, every opportunity to love reminds me of you. You lived life to the fullest for 21 years. Thank you for falling in love with mom and for leaving me a legacy of love!

Forever Larry's daughter,
Lori Jo

Your book

I wrote a book this summer about you dad. It's titled, "Finding More Than My Father: A Corpsman Never Forgotten". I think you would really like it. It tells the story of your life and the amazing things you did in only twenty one short years. The thing that stuck out to me the most was your incredible disposition. Your life was hard but you always looked for the silver lining. You were optimistic and future oriented. When things went wrong you chose to believe they would be better tomorrow and work out for the good. Mom has a positive personality too. I'm so thankful for this as she needed this in order to survive without you all these years. It has been so difficult without you. You were her rock. Her safe place. The love of her life.

The second thing that was very evident from researching your history was how much you loved her and I. Thank you for leaving me so much evidence of your love. You wrote about it in every letter, spoke of it in every audio tape and wrote of it in every journal entry. You were an amazing man dad! I know you were not perfect but you would have been an incredible husband and father. I needed you so much during my growing years. I thought that would subside in my adulthood but the truth is I think we always need our dad. Though this need is different, the space in my heart you would have filled remains unfilled. Writing the book helped me grieve. It is my prayer that it helps others. Mom's who are walking the journey mom had to face. She did it so well. You would have been so proud of the way she kept your memory alive. There wasn't a time when she was not willing to talk about you. Truthfully, it was usually her who brought up your name during my growing years. Her choices instilled in me a desire to KNOW you. Thank you dad for giving me life. Heaven is a sweeter place in my heart because you are there.

I will love you forever,
Lori Jo
