A Hero's grave

As we laid my sister Dorothy to rest next to her husband Tommy last July, a rush of memories of the last time I saw him alive overwhelmed me and the tears crept down my cheeks. It was in Mineral Wells, Texas, at Fort Walton, where Tommy was a company commander, preparing future warrant officers for helicopter duty in Nam, a war in which he had already served two tours, and would soon embark on his next and final tour. Tommy & Dorothy married when I was young and he quickly became a role model for me. He was a soldiers soldier and was much admired by our family. I will continue to hold his memory close to my heart. Thank you Janna for contacting me.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SFC Thomas Gore, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
