Thank you
Scrolling through this page the date caught my eye. January 9th, 1968. What a terrible time that must have been for your family. Your infantry brothers lost you as well. A great deal of heartache generated by something that can happen in the blink of an eye. I was a SP/4 in the Army also, but not when you were. January 9th 1968 was my 5th birthday. Family & friends, a cake, maybe a present - a happy time for me & mine. I did go on to become a police officer after my time in the Army. I saw people at their worse as a cop but nothing like what you experienced in war. I could return to my home at the end of a shift. You couldn’t. The horrors you saw were worse than anything I endured. My military time was peacetime only. Uneventful. It’s bittersweet to think that as I was enjoying a happy day, that you gave all you could possibly give under miserable conditions. Vincente, may your soul rest eternally where war does not exist. You deserve nothing less.
