A Senior DI to remember.......

SSGT. Gonzalez, you were my Senior Drill Instructor at MCRD, San Diego. You were tough ,disciplined and fearless.I was returning to the world the day you lost your life in Vietnam. I was in Fox 2/26 and you in Hotel 2/26. I saw you preparing your men to go on patrol that day in March. I wish that I had approached you and told you the impact you had on my life, but I was eager to leave that God-forsaken country and you were intent on your preparations to do battle. RIP Staff-Sergeant Gonzalez. Semper FI.

To My Friend

I still remember the good times we had while we were young.I was were very proud of you when you joined. You made it back from your first tour in Vietnam but because of your sense of duty you voluntered for a second tour during which you made the ultimate sacrafice. May you have a special place in heaven and if somehow you can read this, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers often.
