"Always Remembered"
Charles Goldmeyer was a young Marine assigned to the 1st Platoon, Alpha Co., 1st Recon Bn. He was wounded while defending a harbor site being assaulted by NVA troops at night. He along with the other seven members of this team were successful in holding their position and arranging for an emergency extract. That night two members of the recon team were killed and five others wounded. His team work and calmness under fire contributed significantly to the outcome of this situation.
Goldmeyer was subsequently killed as a result of combat in another engagement with enemy forces.
Charles will always be remembered as a quiet yet dedicated member of Recon who demonstrated the finest qualities of a young American. His life was taken at an age far too young, but the impression he left will be "Always Remembered".
He will always be with us in spirit!!
Semper Fi!!!
