Obituary of Cpl. Gordon L. Goins

According to the Obituary in the Register Herald in Eaton, Oh, it states:

Eaton Area GI Vietnam Victim
Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Goins R.1, US-127 North, Eaton, received word Saturday that their son, Army Corporal Gordon L. Goins, 23, was killed Wednesday, Jan. 10, in a hostile assault attack in Vietnam. He was a military policeman serving with Company B of the 89th Infantry when he was injured. He died later from his wounds.

Corporal Goins attended Fairmount High School in Dayton. After working at New Idea in Colwater, Oh, he entered the U.S. Army four years ago and took basic training at Camp Denny, GA. He served 14 months in Korea, and six months at Ft. Hood, TX, prior to being stationed in Vietnam six months ago.

Survivors include the parents; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Goins, Lewisburg; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Vivia Rhodehamel, Greenville; a brother, Roy, Jr. and siter, Ruth, both at home and a married sister, Mrs. Lula Gilbert, New Caslisle.

Services for Cpl. Gordon L. Goins were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Girton-Schmidt Memorial Home in Eaton. Rev. Harley Brown officated, and burial was in Mound Hill Union Cemetery at Eaton.
