Ground Casualty

SGT Richard J. Goggin was an Infantry Operations and Intelligence Specialist serving with Headquarters & Headquarters Company (HHC), 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division. On April 26, 1971, Goggin was last seen chasing a Vietnamese national from a trash dump and later found drowned in the Huu Trach River near Hue Southwest Airfield in Thua Thien Province, RVN. An investigation into the incident was underway at the time his death was reported.
