Captain Johnny H Godfrey was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism and extraordinary achievement while engaged in aerial flight. He served as a Pilot, Tactical Aircraft, and was assigned to the 1131st Special Activities Squadron, 13th Air Force.

Dear Captain Johnny Godfrey,
Thank you for your service as a Tactical Aircraft Pilot. You are still MIA. PLEASE COME HOME. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Be at peace.

Your spirit weighs heavily on my mind today... I can still remember this time in 1966. I have seen you at times this past year... as my dear wife tells me that your spirit is around me all the time. Please tap me on the shoulder, move my head a particular direction, or place a thought in my mind sometime soon, just to reinforce that you are there... I am still honored to be yours and I love you as much as you think I do. Denny boy XOXO

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
