Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever…..

James Godfrey was my cousin from the state of Maine. I only saw him once, when we visited his family in Maine in 1957.
I was in Vietnam in 1966, and he died the next year, when he was piloting a helicopter. He is the only relative that died in the Vietnam War, but that was still one too many.

My father’s nephew, who died before I was born.

Every year on Memorial Day I think of his bravery in the line of fire.

Thank you for your service and your sacrifice. Thank you for stepping up and answering your country's call. Rest easy knowing you will never be forgotten.
