Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Aaron Zane Howard Glazar, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

You Will Be Rembered As Long As I Live
Zane was my closest friend at H.B. Plant High in Tampa. He loved his Triumph TR4, and he was probably the easiest to know, most straight up guy I ever knew. We were both transplants from other places, and felt like fish out of water at Plant High. Had he lived, he wanted to pursue a career in aviation, and attend Embry-Riddle Aviation Institute in FL. I left Tampa immediately following graduation in June 1966. I saw him again in April of 1967, and then the next time I went looking for him, he was in Viet Nam. He had a younger brother who wanted to follow him into the service. I was shocked at his death, reached out to the family, but never heard anything back. I will never forget him, his unerring sanity, and decency. God only knows what he might have been, but I know what he was, and I miss him still.
