Always in our heart

I am Roberts cousin Leah Backman. Although I never got to meet you I have heard much about you. Your father, my uncle Raphael often talked about you with great love. He moved back to his home town of Chisholm Minnesota from California. I and most of the Backman family live in Minnesota, me still in Chisholm. After he passed we found many things of yours in his stuff including your purple heart, bronze star, and letters from Vietnam. I have your purple heart and bronze star and am honored. The moving wall is coming to Chisholm on June 23 and I can't wait to see it. You, and many others were brave patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice. RIP. You are loved and not forgotten. If anyone would like to contact me about my cousin Robert I would love to hear more about him and his time in service. My email is [email protected]

My friend, and America's hero

We became friends in 1969 during our training in Ft. Lewis, Wash. I have not forgotten you nor will I ever forget you.
Thank you my dear friend for your service to our country. Please know that I love and miss you my brother, as do Torres, and your other friends from the bay area. God bless you and may you rest in peace.
