Silver Star Medal Award

Petty Officer Third Class Richard Arthur Gilbreath was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. He served as a Hospital Corpsman (Combat Medic) and was assigned to H&S CO, 3RD BN, 5TH MARINES, 1ST MARDIV.
