BROTHER
To all who served thank you for your sacrifices and WELCOME HOME. As a nation we all lost something in that war, but remember you answered the call of you country and gave of youselves. My brother left us way too soon , as with others , but they will always be in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks to all who visit and honor their sacrifices.

Thank You
Dear PFC Jack Gilbert,
Thank you for your service as a Rifleman, Your 72nd birthday is soon. Happy Birthday. Happy Advent. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Neighbor
Jack was part of our farm community north of Limon, CO, and I only vaguely remember him because he was older than me. But, I knew his brothers, mom and dad, better, and one of his brothers is still living in the home place, on the farm. Another brother was in the same grade as my brother, in school, and still holds the school record for throwing the discuss, set in 1969. I did not appreciate at the time the enormity of his sacrifice for our nation, partly because of the unpopularity of the Viet Nam war, and also because of my youth. How his parents' hearts must have been broken by the loss of their son. Jack was in our local 4-H club, Walk's Camp, and the Gilbert family has been part of our community for as long as I can remember. Thank you, Jack, and all of the Gilbert family. You are one of the unsung heroes of our country.
