My Good Friend Chickie
Hi Chick,
I have a rubbing of your name from the DC wall over my desk along with several other friends and acquaintances who didn't make it back. I think about you often and reflect back on the days when we used to hang out at Horn & Hardart's after school checking out all the female talent that went by. Ahhh, life was much simpler back then! Hopefully, we will meet again someday and rekindle our old friendship and share our experiences. Monday is Veteran's day and there isn't a Vets Day that goes by when I don't think of you and whisper a silent hello, hoping you can hear me. Rest in Peace my friend.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Charles J Gibilterra Jr, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

My Aftershcol Buddy Chickie
Chickie and I used to hang out the H&H after school at Frankford HS and check out all the girls. He was quick with a smile and had an infectious laugh. He died while I was in Viet Nam, though not at Mt Baldy, so I could not attend the funeral. It must be true that only the good die young. I miss you buddy.

Frankford GI
Found Dead in
Bed at Da Nang
A Frankford soldier wounded
last September was found dead
in bed February 2 in an aircraft
landing zone on Mount Baldy,
20 miles south of Da Nang,
South Vietnam.
The Army notified the par-
ents of Sp/4 Charles J. Gibil-
terra Jr., of 4139 Salem St., an
autopsy would be conducted to
determine the cause of death.
GOT PURPLE HEART
Gibilterra, a cook, received
shrapnel wounds of the leg and
chest Sept. 29 when the enemy
attacked his camp. His leg had
been in a cast until two weeks
ago, his parents said, but he
had returned to duty earlier.
He had received the Purple
Heart.
He told his parents in a letter
he had returned to active duty
because he was needed.
Gibilterra left Frankford
High School two years ago a
few weeks before graduation to
join the Army. He had been in
Vietnam since August and was
to have been discharged in June.
BROTHER IN ARMY
He has a 19-year-old brother
in the Army in Korea.
He also is survived by par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
J. Gibilterra Sr., and a sister,
Donna, 16.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
