Sergio, we never met but I know you.
Sergio (Sonny), we never met and that’s a shame. I married your cousin who was born 4 years after your passing. You had 12 aunts and an uncle named John. Your mom was Katie and she died about a month ago. You probably know that and I hope you and your dad greeted her; what a joyous reunion! She was the last of her generation; Yola and your mom still lived next door to each other. Yola passed away only months before your mom. They were grand ladies to the end. You were your mom and dad‘s only child. You were always remembered and I heard stories about you. Your mom always missed you. With her passing, some things were sent to us from NY. Among them, letters acknowledging your passing, and your uniform. We never met, but it feels like you are here.

Thank You
Dear Sp4 Sergio Gherardini,
Thank you for your service as a Military Policeman. Happy Advent. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
