Thank You

Dear PFC William Geis,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. Happy Thanksgiving. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Friend, Neighbor and Fellow Soldier

Well Bill it was a cold dark morning exactly fifty years ago(7 Dec 1964) today
when you and I reported(not reluctantly) to our draft board in Harvey, Illinois.
We then went through Basic Training together at Fort Knox, Ky. You were the
most positive soldier I ever knew. Volunteering for Vietnam is proof of that. I
visit your grave at St. Mary's often. You are only about 100 yards from my
parents. I imagine "Pa" Quinn is still telling his WWII stories. You are
forever 20 years old, and I am an old Geezer now remembering when we were
both young, and having a rare pass to Louisville. Somehow, someway I, and
many others, will always be with you. And it won't be another 50 years until
we meet again.
Your Friend, Jim Quinn
