Thank You for Your Service

Mr. Raymond, thank you for your service. Many sacrifices were made by you and other soldiers during Vietnam War. My grand-dad was in the Vietnam War, but sadly he stepped on a land mine, and passed away. I read a letter from your daughter, and I'm sure you're watching over her. I just want to express my gratitude and appreciation for you serving in the military. I can not imagine what you may have seen or been through while in battle, but I thank you for fighting for our country. I wished our American veterans would be more honored and given better circumstances when they returned home. Thank you for your service, and I pray your legacy will be remembered.

MY BROTHERS

You were in LT Eisenhour's platoon and I was plt leader of another platoon in Co. B, 1/35 Infantry, 3rd BDE, 4th Infantry Div. You and Randy left together along with 13 other Americans on NOV 13 & 14, 1967. Both our platoons got diverted to a rescue mission that started out as a short chopper hop back to base camp for a stand down after three weeks in the field. Both our platoons literally were dropped into pure hell. We all did what we all knew we were there for. Aide our brothers. You and Randy's platoon on one side and me and my platoon on the other we met after dark a few hours later. By then you and Randy and two others plus soldiers from my platoon had died. Why I chose to write this message 53 years later I don't know.
Maybe I have finally come to grips with a deep loss. But for everyday for 53 years all of you that died that day have been in my thoughts, on my mind and saddened to my very soul that that day every happened.
