To my friend, my brother

Bob and I came into Vietnam along with Bob Covet. You took a punji in your leg and got over for a month in Japan. When you came back they asked you to break point through some tall elephant grass where our enemy set up an ambush. I was a ways back in our line of march when I heard them shooting you up in front of me. Besides you a few other were hurt amongst them was another friend, Bill Brune. I couldn't get to you before you were taken out in a Huey as we were also getting hit from our left side. I was totally devastated when they told me you didn't make it. I truly miss you Bob. I had a nice time meeting you family and visiting your grave in the cotton field. John Kell C/3/8 your friend and brother - We will meet again.

THANK YOU

Dear Cpl Robert Garrett,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Happy Veterans' Day. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear CPL Robert Junior Garrett, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
