Ray, we only knew each other for a few weeks after we arrived in Vietnam in November of 1968 but we hit it off and became friends. I had not known anyone from Connecticut before. We experienced the heat, paddy mud, and horrors of combat for the first time together. I cannot forget the day you died.

Dear PFC Renald Gagne,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Happy Halloween. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Private First Class Renald Ludger Gagne, Served with Company D, 3rd Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division.

Renald is buried at Saint John Catholic Cemetery, Wallingford, New Haven County, CT.
