Always missed and never forgotten

Hey gene I died before I got to meet you but I have heard a lot of stories about you with the buck that you shot and that cigar always in you mouth. Whenever I go up to nana carr's house my dad and I always stop by the cemetery and say hi and talk to you. When I get a little bit older I'm going to join the army and serve my country as you did. Thank you for your service and I am you cousin but I will always remember you and you will have a place in my and the rest of my family's heart. May God Bless You. You may be gone but you will never ever be forgotten. Your cousin Tanner you will always be missed.

Whenever I go up to nana carr's house my dad and I always stop by the cemetery and say hi and talk to you. I heard that you and a 60 machine gunner had gotten caught in a horse shoe ambush and that's all I'm gonna say. When I get a little bit older I'm going to join the army and serve my country as you did. Thank you for your service and I am you cousin but I will always remember you and you will have a place in my and the rest of my family's heart. May God Bless You. You are always in my heart and thoughts.

Gene I can still remember the conversations we had about airborne school, home, and your new bride. I can still see you with a cigar in your mouth. You were the only one that I can remember who loved cigars. Ever since 6 Oct 69 , October has never been the same. I will always acknowledge your sacrifice you gave with your life. I was a 60 machine gunner and you was my assistant gunner that day when we walked together into a horse shoe ambush. I will never forget that day and I want you to know I miss you brother. God rest your soul. Fast Eddie, 1st Air Cav Div 2nd BN 5th Cav (Infantry).

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Gene Paul Fussey, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
