A Dear Friend And Fellow Corpsman

Hector Fuentes, a fellow corpsman that I went through Field Medical Force training with. Hector was respected and loved by many of his fellow corpsmen, especially me. He was so giving of himself. He was always so cheerful and kind. I remember him so well and have cried over his death time and time again. In fact, Hector has been the center of my greatest crying episodes over Vietnam. I miss him dearly. Hector had so much to give to this world and we will never see him again.

If I were to have one wish, it would be that Hector be alive and I in his place. I loved you Hector, as a friend, a fellow corpsman and as a fallen brother.

NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER

It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die
