Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP5 Joe Lynn Avant, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

A true hero

My dad never really talked about the war. He was injured, and lost an eye. When I was 18 or 19 he told me a little of what happen. When he told me the story he talked about joe and I never forgot his name. Dad said joe was one tuff boy wasn't scared of anything and wanted to do it all. Thank you Joe gone but not forgotten.

Joe and four other guys from our company, including the CO, were killed by the same rocket. They are all sorely missed. A true
