Ground Casualty
SP4 Gregory W. Aultman was a vehicle mechanic serving with A Battery, 1st Battalion, 82nd Artillery, Americal Division. Working in a support capacity in a war zone did not preclude the handling of weapons as part of their daily routine since many clerks, cooks, mechanics, and others with administrative and support duties were required to participate in providing security on the perimeters of the bases where they were assigned. On November 2, 1970, Aultman was on perimeter guard duty in Bunker One at LZ Fat City, an Americal firebase located seven miles northwest of Chu Lai in Quang Tin Province, RVN. While attempting to unjam a M60 machine gun, he reportedly shot himself. Aultman was fatally injured in the incident. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]

Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
As long as you are remembered you will never die...
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
As long as you are remembered you will never die...
