We miss you Eddie !
Eddie and I played Army as little kids on the dirt piles at Tampa and Wingohocking Sts. in Feltonville where we lived in Philadelphia. We were members of the Apache Patrol Troop 44 Boy Scouts of America. Whenever we were away on a camping trip with the Scouts on Sunday Ed would always have Bill Turner the Assistant Scoutmaster drive him to the nearest Catholic Church for Mass on Sunday. Ed was a gentle giant but a very committed one. Wasn't suprised when he signed up to go into the Marines early, Ed wanted to get into the fight that he saw as just. I didn't have the heart to go to Ed's funeral, I'm always sorry I didn't although my Father did go. I've never forgotten you Ed and you are in my prayers daily. I've thought so many times about us playing war as little children and what happened in real war. I never knew Ed as a Marine but I have no doubt he was a damn good one. He was a damn good person I know that one of the finest I've ever known. Semper Fi Ed and God Bless ! Bruce White
