Found this on C - Company's web site (TallComanche.org)

We went into our NDP (straddling trails, as usual) with the knowledge we were being watched.
Our suspicions were correct. At 5:25 AM, May 12th, we were hit hard with mortars, B-40s, and small arms. We called in the Spooky flare ship, Blue Max (Cobra gunships from the 2/20th Artillery), and tube artillery. At 6 AM, we radioed LZ Ike that we had four wounded, and Medevac was requested. At 7 AM, the Medevac was completed, but the bird took small arms fire.
But, not all our people reported as wounded made it. PFC Richard Flagiello succumbed to fragment wounds to the head. He had been with Charlie Company less than a month.

From His Cousin

Richie "Flagg" was born and raised in SW Philly. He attended West Catholic HS through his freshman year before moving to Upper Darby in '63 and graduated from Bonner HS in 1966. To me, his younger cousin, he was The Fonz. He had a '68 Camaro, a Yamaha motorcycle and hung out at The Hot Shoppe. When his number came up in the draft, his father Joe, a WWII veteran, urged him to join the Navy, but Richie joined the Army and ended up in Vietnam. 5 months into his tour, he was killed at the age of 19. Such a tragic loss. R.I.P, Richie.

Your Cousin,
Charlie Flagiello
