A friend remembered
We nearly shared birthdays, with Ricky 4 days my senior. Good friends in grade-school and from the neighborhood, we eventually went our separate ways. He went to the seminary to be a priest, I to a local Catholic high school. When the priesthood didn't work out, Ricky chose the USMC as a way to serve others. You see, our parents were members of the "Greatest Generation" and duty-honor-country were part of our being. A year after Ricky's death while serving my own tour in Vietnam as a grunt, I often thought of his courage and it made me more comfortable with my own situation. Thanks Ricky for your sacrifice and friendship!

Not forgotten
Richard, Although we never met, I just want you to know you are not forgotten. You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for what you believed in. Sleep well my friend, and thank you for protecting the freedoms we have today.
