Always In Our Hearts

I've shared your story with hundreds...if not thousands of people in the past 17 or 18-years now. I share it because, well, you're my cousin and I'm proud of you and of your service...but mostly because I really want others, who haven't had the privilege to know you, be able to have some insight as to who you were...and to know what type of family we come from. And...I guess in a sort of selfish way...I want people to understand just how much the world lost out on, the day you made that ultimate sacrifice.

I still always try to instill in my five children...those same family values that we grew up with. And I always want my kids toy have your name on their lips any time somebody mentions family, patriotisms, sacrifice and honor.

I really miss you...but I'm grateful for the legacy of heroism that you have left behind for us to emulate!

Always, your cousin,

Mario De Lucia

honoring you...

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.
