REMEMBRANCES

LEFT FOR CHARLES ELTON FERRELL
POSTED ON 10.3.2011

If I should die...remembrances for CAPT. Charles Elton FERRELL, USA...who died for our country!!!!!!

If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

Honor

Hi Charles,

I just wanted to tell you thank you for your service in the Army. I am doing a research assignment about you in my sophomore English class. We have the same birthday. I was born in 1994. Thank you for sacrificing your life for my freedom.

My Father

Though I did know you well since I was only 7 when you died, I feel the loss daily. I think you would be proud to know that I am also a Helicopter Pilot and Instructor Pilot with the Army. For those that knew him, please contact me as I would really like to know who and what kind of man my father was. Bless all of you that served and gave all.

Photo is Captain Ferrell's son.

Miller, Senior Advisor to the 24th Special Tactical Zone and the Vietnamese Commanding Officer of the 24th Special Tactical Zone on a tour of the combat area. While taking off from a fire base the aircraft was hit by small arms fire, resulting in loss of power at a low altitude above thick jungle canopy. The crash killed all on board. The co-pilot on the mission was 1LT Phillip John Schrock, a graduate of Field Artillery OCS Class 510-68.
