THE WALL OF FACES

Corporal John Raymond Ferrazzano, Served with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 161 (HMM-161), Marine Aircraft Group 39 (MAG-39), 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (1st MAW), Third Marine Amphibious Force.

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

This is his boot camp photo from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, Platoon 212. He earned the title “U.S. Marine” on March 10, 1966.

Johnny - it was 50 years ago today we lost you. You lived down the block from me then and I will never forget how hard your mother took it.

I was just a kid then and it wasn't until many years later that I fully understood the sacrifice you made for me and everyone else in this country.

I will never be able to thank you enough. May you rest in peace and be forever joined with your mother in heaven.

It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
