Thank you for your sacrifice

I have never met you or your family. However my son and I will be doing a rubbing of your name soon for my wife. You took her fathers place on your last mission on May 1st 1967. Your sacrifice made it possible for my father in law to return home safely and have a baby girl that later became my wife.

DEAR SSGT. ACORD,

AS WE CONTINUE TO CELEBRATE OUR NATION'S BIRTH THIS WEEK, I FEEL IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER AS MANY OF YOU AS I CAN. YOUR SACRIFICE IS APPRECIATED, BUT I WISH THESE SACRIFICES WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN.

REST IN PEACE.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SSGT Ewell Edgel Acord, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
