Thank You

Dear Lt Gary Farris,
Thank you for your service as a Rotary Wing Aviation Unit Commander - Helicopter Pilot. Another national holiday is coming, and we honor you this Labor Day. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Final Mission of 1LT Gary B. Farris

1LT Gary B. Farris was a UH-1 helicopter pilot serving with the 57th Assault Helicopter Company. On May 25, 1972, 1LT Farris was the aircraft commander of a UH-1D (#64-13554) operating in Kontum Province, RVN, approximately 8 miles east of Polei Krong Airfield when the aircraft was fired on by a hostile ground force. While the crew attempted an emergency landing, the main rotor blade struck a tree. It was reported that Farris was fatally injured exiting the aircraft when he was struck by the rotor blade. Remembering an American Hero

Dear 1LT Gary Bruce Farris, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
