Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from fellow marine Joe Bongiovanni is poignant and reflects his admiration and respect for you. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us….

Thank You

Dear Sgt Sisifo Faleafine,
Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Your 76th birthday just passed, happy birthday. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

A wonderful human being / a GREAT MARINE

I arrived in Vietnam Late august 1968 and was assigned to Bravo co 1st Bn 3rd Marines , Sgt Faleafine was our platoon right guide and he did an outstanding job of taking care of his Marines. He was very kind , he knew he had a bunch of young Marines he had to hone into a cohesive fighting force. He was firm but kind , instructive and etching all the time. We were on a battalion size operation looking for NVA , the terracing was rolling hills with thick vegetation, there were tanks in front of us and we were careful of where we trod on because of the many booby traps, Sgt Faleafine was to our right flank a bout 20 yards in front when an awful thunderous explosion filled the air with white smoke and shrapnel flying everywhere. We all rushed to the spot and found our much loved Sgt mortally wounded , he lived for a few minutes then he expired. He had stepped on a concealed 105 mm white phosphorous hell that had been concealed by the VC. He had just returned Fromm R&R in Hawaii with his Family,I believe he had 4 or 5 children. We were all devastated as if had lost a father, he was much loved by his Marines. Rest in peace my Brother, when I get to Hawaii I will go visit him. Would love to hear from his Family . God Bless and Semper Fi
