Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
As long as you are remembered you will never die...
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

As long as you are remembered you will never die...

Served with Lt Jim Ascher
I was with Lt Ascher the day we were ambushed. He was on 3-1 track and I was on 3-3 Track ,A co 2bn 22 infantry. We were on a morning platoon sweep when the ambush was triggered. We were caught in a crossfire with the 3-1 track getting hit by the worst of it. Lt Ascher was good platoon leader that really cared about the men of the 3d platoon. His radio man and the medic that was attached to our platoon also were lost day. A very good man that was taken to early.
