Greg and I were high school classmates. He was two years ahead of me. He was a Senior when I was a Sophomore.
I played 'B' basketball in the Fall of 10th grade and ran track in the Spring. I had no foot speed and was not strong but, I could kinda jump. I went out for high jump and Greg took me under his wing and taught me a lot about the sport. He worked with me and was a great coach..
I have always appreciated how he treated me. He was always supportive and never pulled rank.
I did not know Greg well but I do think I knew his character. He was certainly a hero, to me.
