A Green Beret
To a Member of A-112. Sgt Tommie Emert lost his life trying to help others while crossing the Song Re River in the mountains of South Vietnam in December 1964.
Sgt Emert was the Junior Medic Sgt of A team 112, he was full of enthusiasm for his new mission in the central highlands of South Vietnam and did not hesitate to put his personal life in danger to provide care for the Montagnards in the nearby villages.
Sadly on December 13 after leading a four day patrol in torrential rain
Tommie was swept away and perished in the Song Re,
his body was found downstream the next day.
He was greatly missed and his Team members named
the Gia Vuc Infirmary after him.
May Tommie rest in peace.
