do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
As long as you are remembered you will never truly die....
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
As long as you are remembered you will never truly die....

Ground Casualty
EO3 Leonard M. Ackerman was an equipment operator assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion SEVEN (NMCB 7), 3rd Naval Construction Brigade, USNAVFORV. On March 20, 1970, EO3 Ackerman was the driver of 2 1/2-ton cargo truck transporting Marine security personnel near Ly Ly Bridge, Quang Nam Province, RVN. The truck met a returning mine-sweep team on the sand pit access road while entering the number three sand pit at the Kilo Detachment site. At this moment, an estimated 100-pound mine was detonated. Ackerman was fatally injured in the blast, and 13 Marine personnel were wounded. The cargo truck was totally destroyed. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
