Thank You
Dear Lcpl Dwight Eisenhour,
Thank you for your service as a Motor Vehicle Operator. You passed on the same day as Frankie, say hi to him in heaven. We remember all you who gave their all. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Ground Casualty
LCPL Dwight D. Eisenhour was a Motor Vehicle Operator serving with C Company, 11th Motor Transportation Battalion, 1st Marine Division. On July 4, 1967, LCPL Eisenhour was driving a M54 5-ton 6x6 truck in Quang Nam Province, RVN, returning to an outpost in support of Marines who were deployed in the field. As Eisenhour approached the temporary basecamp, the Marines there were preparing to dispose of unused ordinance. Failing to follow SOP, the Marines neglected to secure the area, allowing Eisenhour to enter the zone where the ordinance was to be detonated. A blast occurred just off to the driver’s side of Eisenhower’s truck. He was killed instantly after suffering penetrating wounds over his body. The force of the explosion knocked the 5-ton truck onto its side. Eisenhour’s body was recovered and removed to the Navy mortuary in Da Nang.
