My father's best friend

I grew up knowing that you were my father's best friend and my oldest brothers namesake. Your memory will never die. Thank you for your sacrifice. Love forever.

My Friend

Tom was considered a loner, a bit on the quiet side but I like to remember him as a THINKER. A cross county enthusuiast, Tom enjoyed running "against" his own times. No wonder, the Army placed him in infantry. His musical tastes included folk music with his favorite artist being Bob Dylan. Still recall him telling several of us about Dylan before the mainstream knew about him. He purchased record albums through the Columbia record club. Eventually, he bought some an electric guitar, a bass guitar and an amplifier. He practiced galore to imitate the style. When he went off to Viet Nam, he asked me to "care for" them, the instruments and albums. Of course, I "tried" to learn to play, even bought an acoutic Gibson and took lessons. When Tom "returned" home, I knew it was time to pass on his instruments and albums to his brother Keith. I often think and miss him.

HE USED TO JOKE ABOUT BEING RELATED TO EISENHAUER, BECAUSE HIS NAME SOUNDED SIMILAR TO HIS, HE WAS LIKE A BROTHER TO ME. WE BOTH DROVE AN APC. HE WAS WOUNDED WHEN I WAS ON R&R. I NEVER GOT TO SEE HIM AGAIN.
