You went to Vietnam when I was only 6 weeks old, and you didn't come home again. I grew up without you, and while the man that I call "Dad" is a wonderful man, I'll always carry you in my heart. I wish I could have known you.

Hello, my name is Kayla Butikofer. I am a student at Gridley High School in Illinois. Our History teacher assigned all of his History classes to do a Gridley High School Posting project on this site for the brave people who died for our country. I am a senior at Gridley High School in Gridley, IL. As part of the Gridley High School Posting Project, I write this to you, valiant soldier. I am truly inspired by your loyalty to this country and you bravery for going to Vietnam and fighting, knowing that in so doing, you may lose your life. A hero is defined as a person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life. This describes you in every way.
