I never forgot you
I met David at the Chicago Airport in 1969. We were both on our way to Vietnam. We arrived in Ft. Lewis together, departed for Vietnam on the same day. Arrived in Cam Rahn Bay and spent time at the 101st Division rear at Long Bien in SERTS (Screaming Eagle Replacement Training School) We were both assigned to D 1/502nd at LZ Sally. We both took short discharges and reenlisted to become door gunners. We traveled to Camp Evans together to join the 158th Avn Bn. David was assigned to C Company (Phoenix) and I was assigned to A Company (Ghost Rider) After that we only saw each other at the messhall that C and A Companies shared. He was a very brave rifleman and I heard he was one hell of a doorgunner. I just wanted to let you know I never forgot you.
