Thank You
Dear SSGT John Edwards,
I hope your photo is put here because this wall of faces is missing yours. Thank you for your service as a Quartermaster Supply Specialist. We remember all you who gave their all. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

John L. Edwards, to whoever left, TO MY DADS NEIGHBOR
I was with John the day he was killed. I was talking to him 1 minute 5 minutes later he was dead. He was the RTO for the artillery FO, I was the RTO for the infantry unit he was assigned to. We became friends, when he was killed he didn't have his flak jacket or helmet. I was taking it to him after a mortar attack, when I found was he was, but he was gone, mortar landed next to him, in a ditch he had taken cover in, killing him instantly. I sent my flak jacket and helmet in with his body, and wore his the rest of my tour. 2008 I returned to Vietnam, was in the HoBo woods, I put a 25th. Div. patch in a bomb crater and said his name out loud, and finally said. "Goodbye".

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SSGT John Leonard Edwards, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

My dad's neighbor
For the past 43 years, John's stone has been next to my dad's at Fort Rosecrans. We always leave him flowers because he is so far from home; and because his birth date and date of death is almost identical to my dad's. He's from Rhode Island. He doesn't have family in San Diego to make sure he is decorated at the holidays. He has us, and and we make sure he is. Just like my dad. He's never forgotten. We take good care of him.
