THE WALL OF FACES

PFC David Arnold is buried at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Wilmington, Delaware.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

I was Dave's roommate in college. My research of after action reports suggest he was killed by friendly fire from an air to ground rocket. The rpt was very carefully worded. For the 50th anniversary of his death, I placed a flag marker at his grave for a Memorial Day flag.

PFC David Morgan Arnold Sir,
I reasearched you for a school project, and can say that I wish we could have met. You have friends and family who care very deeply about you, and you passed away far too soon. Thank you for defending the star spangled banner.
