Final Mission of MAJ John O. Arnn

SFC Carl H. Torello was a Special Forces-qualified radio operator and MAJ John O. Arnn was a Special Forces-qualified Infantry Unit Commander, both serving with Detachment B-42 (Chau Doc), D Company, 5th Special Forces Group. On January 26, 1965, they were traveling in a U.S. Agency for International truck on the road between Ba Xoai and Chi Lang in Chau Doc Province, RVN, when they were ambushed by a mine. Both Torello and Arnn were killed in the blast. The critically injured U.S. AID driver was found by friendly Vietnamese and turned over to Allied forces. In memory of Herschel Rourk's best friend, John O. Arnn

Barbara and Jim,
The stature you dad had when we got together in the early years has always stayed in my mind as legendary. Most notably were the two climbs to the top of Mt. Fuji with my dad and yours while your dad was hiking to raise funds for the orphanage. Somewhere I still have my "Fuji stick", and with it very fond memories of all your family meant to me. THANK YOU.
Rest In Peace Mary and John.

Burial Information for this Vietnam Veteran.

Cremated, Ashes scattered in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Carmel, California. He wanted his ashes scattered there so they would eventually end up in Japan, a country and people he grew quite fond of.

My cousin

You were my third cousin, but I never knew you. I just learned of your service and sacrifice while putting my family tree on Ancestry.com. Thank you. I am so happy to have learned about you.
