Photo and article were taken from the Philadelphia Daily News of October 26, 1987. The special supplement entitled, 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY,' was published in conjunction with the dedication of the Philadelphia Viet Nam Memorial.
A member of the Army Special Forces, Dwyer volunteered for duty in Viet Nam. The 1962 Roman Catholic High School graduate was a squad leader and truck master in Viet Nam, where he was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry, 1st Infantry Division. Dwyer died on July 18, 1966. The 23-year-old specialist five was survived by his mother and three brothers.
