“A QUITE AND SERIOUS MARINE“

I knew L/Cpl. Durant for only a short time (2-3 weeks). He was a new member to the CAP PLT.
and fresh from the CAP SCHOOL. Even though it had been been 54 yrs since his passing I believe that this way of possibly communicating could be good for all of us. I am deeply sorry this possible meeting of a friend or relative has not occurred years ago. Do contact me because I just found out myself that a MEMORIAL is being built at Quantico, VA dedicated to all CAP MARINES who served in this ALL VOLUNTARY Countetinsurgence Force. Less than 5,000 serve and approximately 70% were KIA in VIET Nam with app. 400+/- living. MARINE CORPS records are almost non-existent of who, where and when we served.
I am available 24/7 so please contact me I have a little more to share.
Happy Thanksgiving 2022 and GOD BLESS ALL and USA.

Forbis Durant

Forbis Durant, Jr was my 1st cousin. His dad and my mom were siblings. He was a kind strong young man. He use to run all the time.

My Uncle Forbis was a Methodist Minister and the District Superintendent for our District. There were many people at his funeral. The funeral procession from Antlers OK
Siloam Springs Cemetary in McCurtain OK was very long. All of the cars that pulled over to show respect
for our family had a long wait. The procession was about 3 or 4 miles long. I was about 13 at the time.

The young lady he was to marry never married.

RIP Sonny. Pisa chi lashke
