High School Senior
My name is Joe Stacom and I am a senior at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, RI. I recently chose to take a course entitled "The Vietnam Experience" which is taught by a Vietnam Veteran. Each student was assigned to research one of the 279 deceased RI Vietnam Veterans. I chose the name Joseph Rene Dupere. In a hope to gather more information on the life of Mr. Dupere I ask anyone; either family member, close friend, or even someone who served with Mr. Dupere to please e-mail me. We could talk on the telephone, or through e-mail, which ever you prefer. I thank you and my e-mail is as follows:

What a Mistake
I remember it quite well
Though is was a long time ago
I can tell you a story
There was a man who went in search of glory
From Rhode Island he came
Joseph R. Dupere was his name
Serving for the Army
He paid with his life
In the war of Vietnam
But just maybe he could have lived a few more years
What he missed we do not know
A springs's rain or a winter's snow
Having a family a wife and son
Enjoying a life of love
But he has passed for his country
Risking his life for the likes of my kind
His courage and bravery are the ties that bind
Josepe R. Dupere we are proud of you
You won't be forgotten

Dad
Seems like a lifetime since you were taken from us, November 12, 1965, the day after your birthday.
I will never know what it was like to throw you a football and get it tossed back. I would really like to know what your thoughts and dreams were. Are they like mine? Your memory lives on, and in that, a part of you will always be around. We all miss you,
Love your children,
Mike, Inge, Janet and Leroy...
