Bill Ackerman Noble Brother and Friend

I knew Bill before he knew the Military and his service in Vietnam.

He loved God and he loved his family. I know because I served with him for several months in 1967 as a missionary for the LDS Church in Angiers, France.

He was the perfect roomate....neat and clean. He had this radiant smile and loved football. Anytime we could, we would be thowing the football to each other. He would catch it more than me as he was a pretty decent athlete.

Bill loved the French people and they loved him.

May God continue to bless his spirit as I hope to be able to cross paths again at some future time with my friend and brother in Christ, one Bill R. Ackerman!

Information

I am seeking info on my Uncle Bill R. Ackerman from anyone that knew him when he served the war, his mission or just from the neighborhood. I am the Niece that did not know him but his sister Joan is my mother. I would loke to do a remembrance book for the grandkids and great grandkids about Billy.

Bob Fossett

i was Bill's Platoon Sargent , Bill was a good soldier, he did his job and never complained. I was the one that picked him to walk point that day. I have often wondered if I had picked someone else would he still be alive today. It has been a lot of years since then but I have carried this my whole life. If Mr. & Mrs. Ackerman are still alive I want to say how deeply sorry I' am for the loss of your son.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear CPL Bill R Ackerman, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
