Semper Fi, Marine on Memorial Day
Major Duffy was my OCS company commander at Quantico. I was an officer candidate. After Basic School and Supply School, I had orders to Vietnam. On my way over, I met him at the bar at Camp Hansen, Okinawa in September 1967. We shared a few beers and he told me how he envied me going in country. He had been assigned to duty on Okinawa. Found out later, he got his wish. He died doing what he had been trained to do. I will never forget him.

My papa knew you, his name is Donald Heazlit and he was good friends with you. He told me that you were in the army with him and papa always tells me, "I had a friend once" and I asked who and he told me pat duffy. I am going to Washington DC soon here next week and we are going to the vietnam war wall on a field trip and I'm gonna try to find your name for my papa, he cares a lot about you. Thank You
Dear Major Patrick Duffy,
Thank you for your service as an Infantry Officer. Independence Day is approaching, and we remember your sacrifice. We remember all you who gave their all. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
